Matthew 4:4 -
Jesus answered, "It is written:'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."
Observation:
Wow... This is epic. Jesus, the most powerful human that walked this earth, God Himself, against the master of deceit and lies. The devil is trying his hardest to deceive Jesus but we clearly see that the devil is no match against the true and mighty word of God.
Notice that even Jesus, as a Human, fought his battles by using the Word and pointing to God, but He does this to show us how to combat our biggest enemy... I love the fact that Jesus doesn't just look up and pray for God to get rid of the devil, instead He looks the devil straight in the eye and speaks truth to him, (just like when God spoke everything to existence) knowing that the devil fears God and has to obey all of His commands... and not to mention that Jesus is clearly telling us that we must read and learn the Word of God if we want to truly live and be victorious in life...
Wow, that truly shows the importance of the Word in our lives... and here we are, taking this challenge as a church, applying this truth in our lives.
Application:
We have the gift of having every weapon we need to combat any trial, tribulation, or enemy we encounter. "For the weapons of our warfare are not physical, but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds, refute arguments and theories and reasoning and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the true knowledge of God; and we lead every though and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ." 2 Corinthians 10:4,5.
The more I read the Bible the more it comes to life. I hear Jesus speaking to me through this scripture and telling me to continue learning the word of God and speaking it whenever an enemy steps in my way. He gave us this weapon to defeat satan himself.
We all know how important our attitudes and thoughts are for our everyday success in all areas of our lives so in order to have victory, we must line up our thoughts with the true knowledge of God. I will apply this scripture to my life by reading the Bible everyday until I can line up every thought to the Word of God so that no obstacle is a match for me. I know that His word is my weapon, the mightiest weapon of all, and equipped with it, we are more than conquerors.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, you are my refuge, my protection, my provider, my happiness, my everything and a day won't go by without me giving thanks for Your amazing grace and mercy. Your word has saved me in times of need, given me guidance when I was lost, given me light when all was dark, given me encouragement when I was down, given me knowledge and wisdom when I was ignorant and confused, it continues to give me so much more as I continue to meditate on it.
Lord hear my praise to you, for I recognize you as the One and only true God that I love so very much. Thank you for rescuing me and loving me with your perfect love. I pray now, that you help me with my struggles by reminded me of Your Word and continue to help me gain insight and understanding of your ways. I will seek your face always... seek first your kingdom and your righteousness with all my heart and as your word says, I will be found, Declares the Lord. In Jesus name I pray. AMEN!
