Last night, my friend Andres and I , went to the Marlins and Cubs game. It was a pretty decent game with 19,000+ in attendance; however, I'd say 60% were Cubs fans. That didn't stop the Marlins from beating the Cubs for the 9th time straight.
Andres and I enjoyed the game and the weather. It was the first time since I moved down here I actually put on a sweatshirt.
Got a surprise in the mail from Evan McBroom, President and Founder of Fishhook (friend to Janie and me). He was at a conference recently and met and interviewed Ami James from the tattoo shop and hit TLC television show Miami Ink in South Beach. You can read Evan's expereince on his blog.
So what did he send me in the mail? An autograph with a personalized note from Ami to me. Very cool. Thanks, Evan!
Janie and I walked into Macy's today and we were thrown off guard at the sight of Christmas Trees in the midst of the decoration process. It's not the fact we are still in the middle of September. I've grown accustom to retail stores jumping the-Holiday-Season-gun. What shocked me was the sight of evergreen trees (fake as they may be) in Miami.
I guess it makes sense, since no one is actually FROM here. It's a reminder of a home that used to be. Case in point, Pottery Barn had tons of decorations for Fall. I am not seeing leaves turn color or smelling my neighbor burning the leaves he raked this year but it's not stopping stores from cashin' in on nostalgia.
I had no idea he was only six years younger than me. 25 is a good age because your car insurance goes down.

Janie and I have been making a conscience effort to take better care of the earth. Not because Al Gore said so (although I watched An Inconvenient Truth) but because God told us to be in charge of it. I wrote back in May why I believe churches and Christ-followers should be leading the way.
Our new house has low-energy light bulbs, we recylce, and we are even taking steps to go from two to one car.
Today I was at PetSmart to pick up some food for Peezer (our cat) and Jeter (our dog). As I strolled down the toy aisle I saw this toy and had to get it. It's a stuffed porcupine with squeaker from theAmerican Kennel Club "Green Planet Collection." I am not sure if Jeter knows he is making a difference since he is mauling his prey in the living room right now but every little bit helps.
I'll admit it. I hate Boston sports teams, so I know this is a bit of a cheap shot (on a very easy target). However, listening to sports talk radio and "Red S-a-w-ks nation" today calling to defend their demigod, Bill Belichick is "wicked" ridiculous. The only thing more ridiculous was Belichick's apology for cheating.
As a Colts' fan, it feels amazing to be World Champs and to do it with a man of integrity at the helm.
When you completely relocate to the other side of the country everything changes. A new place for oil changes, a new vet, a new dentist, you get the idea. Some might find this to be stressful. I find it freeing. Living in Indy for so many years I boxed myself in and hesitated to try new things.
About a month ago, I started looking for a new gym to workout at. Instead of boxing myself in again I decided to go boxing!
When I walked into South Florida Boxing for the first time I didn't know what to expect. This is a serious gym where people don't care what they look like. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday when I am getting my hands wrapped I can't help hear "Eye of the Tiger" in my mind!
Last night Janie and I went to the ESPN Club not Zone at the Disney Boardwalk in Orlando to catch the NFL Kickoff and specifically to cheer for our Colts. I was wearing my throwback Edgerrin jersey and as we walked down the Boardwalk I saw several Manning jerseys and several people greeted us with, "Go Colts!" Not a Saints fan in sight. I was feeling pretty good because I thought the Club would be full of Colts fans and/or casual football fans. Wrong.
Janie and I sat in a hive full of amped up Saints fans anxiously awaiting there chance to overthrow the Champs. Can't tell you how many times they chanted, "REGGIE, REGGIE, REGGIE!" Which was weird to hear as a Pacer fan cause I was expecting Reggie Miller to jack up a three or something.
No matter what side you rooted for we were unified in our distaste for the pregame. Nothing says "football" like Kelly Clarkson, John Mellancamp, & Faith Hill? That was painful to watch. My question is when did Mellancamp become the official celebrity of Indiana? Every national event that comes through Indy it seems he has to drag out his tired, old act. However, I guess when you look at the list of socially awkward celebs that come from the Hoosier state it doesn't make a difference. (Axl Rose, David Letterman, David Lee Roth, and off course the whole Jackson tribe).
It was of course amazing to see the championship banner go up to the rafters!
As for the game itself? The Colts are scary good. That was a very good Saints offense and our D held them to three points. Addai seems to be the real deal (although he scared me to death when he was slow to get up on the first play of the game). Manning and his receiving core play on another level than any other team. I laughed when Ugoh jumped early and got flagged for a false start penalty. It was like a shout out to Tarik "False Start" Glenn who surprised everyone when he retired this offseason. Ugoh held his own. The best part of it all is now I can actually open my eyes when the Defense comes on the field and enjoy myself!
Thanks to the Colts for shutting up the Saints fans at the club last night.
Monday morning I clicked the "publish now" button on my first post for my new blog. The plan was to write a few posts between Monday - Thursday and then on Friday announce to all my friends, family and those who check out The Miami Pursuit my personal blog is up and running. I honestly didn't think a single person would see it until Friday.
Yesterday, I received a comment regarding my "Manliest Man Bag Ever" post. I just figured someone wandered here doing a search for the Jack Bauer bag or something.
Then I clicked on the stat page. Thanks to Moleskinerie and a few other sites I have had over 1,500 hits in the last two days! So thanks to all of you for stopping by. You are welcome anytime.
