Sunday was a great day for The Pursuit. I have compared church planting to a roller coaster before and right now we are heading down one of the hills (the tingling sensation in the stomach included).
- Being Memorial Day weekend we expected many of our regular attenders to be gone. We were right. What we didn't expect was Sunday being one of the largest groups of 1st and 2nd time guests we've ever had.
- We kicked off the WeLoveSoFlo campaign
- The Big Idea for Sunday was: We become good news to South Florida when we love like Jesus.
- We looked at how Jesus was good news to people around him just by living the life God created us for. As we follow Jesus, we need to be good news as well.
- South Florida has more than its share of obstacles right now. It seems to be a growing trend in SoFlo to complain about the problems instead of looking for ways to love the community. Acts 17:26 reveals to us God "determines the times set for (men and women) and the exact places where they should live." In other words, he has placed us in South Florida for a purpose and I believe that purpose is to be good news in tangible ways. Sorry the podcast isn't up yet. I think we are having some technical difficulties on that. I'll post it when it's up.
- We developed the "WeLoveSoFlo" card (see below) and challenged everyone to do something "good" for someone else this week and pass on the card and encourage them to do the same.
- We also launched the WeLoveSoFlo Community website which is a place we can tell our stories of how we were good news.
- I am really excited about the potential of this movement. Everyone left on Sunday grabbing extra cards and thinking of creative ways they could be good news!
