Today was The Pursuit's first Family Celebration & Child Dedication. Six families took part. The parents made commitments to raise their children under God's way and eleven children were dedicated to God (that's my unofficial count). This is something we have been planning since June and it turned out to be a very special day for our church family.
Highlights included:
- the infusion of Kids City into the Celebration Service went very well. The goal was to give everyone a sample of what a typical Sunday in Kids City is like. Erin Diaz led a game show pitting moms against their kids and Linda Smith did a great job teaching the kids lesson.
- Alex changing the words of the song by the late, great Rich Mullins "Boy like Me, Man like You." Original words, "I grew up around Indiana, you grew up around Galilee." Alex's words, "I grew up around Venezuela, you grew up around Galilee."
- We had our largest crowd since April.
- Met a really great couple (first time guests) who came because they saw us outside of Wal-mart for our School Supply Drive.
- I put several people into shock when they saw me wearing a jacket. Wait until I pull out the tie some day!
Today was a great team effort and I am very proud of the way everyone stepped up and made this one of our best Sundays to date.
