My New Office

I mentioned a few days ago Janie and I bought each other patio furniture for our anniversary. Romantic, right? Well, the furniture was delivered on Friday and I have spent more time on our lanai in the past three days then I have in the 6 months we've lived here.

It's amazing what a difference a few feet has made in my productivity. Janie and I have been using our home as our offices and it can get pretty crowded. Plus, I love to go places that inspire me when I am writing. Now I can walk outside, bypass the South Florida traffic and at once be surrounded by God's creation (and a hot tub that looks like a tomb). Here's what I see when I look up. It doesn't get much better than this.

Church planting is tough. Church planting in South Florida is not for the faint of the heart. Sometimes I think people picture us down here at the beach sipping umbrella drinks. Can't tell you how many people have asked how many times we've been to the beach since we got down here. It's kind of pathetic when I can count on one hand and come up with the answer. However, for all the challenges we have faced and continue to face the weather in January is certainly a perk.

New New Years Tradition

How did we ring in 2008? Clubbing in SoBe? Nope.

We headed over to Century Village (a 55+ gated community in Pembroke Pines) and played cards with Bob and Linda Smith. Yeah, the Mehaffey's know how to party hard. Actually it was a lot of fun. The Smith's served up Skyline Chili, which is the nectar of all that is good in life. The picture is one I took and sent to the Diaz (who were in Indy) to let them know we missed them and wished them a happy new year.

2008. I can't wait to see what this year has in store for our lives and the new life of The Pursuit Christian Church. With God, I know for sure it won't be boring!
