What's Your Favorite Dessert?

I think many people anticipate reading the Bible as much as they anticipate eating a bowl full of lima beans. However, God intended His Word to be craved for much like we crave our favorite desserts! (Check out Psalm 119:103)

Mine ... Portillo's Chocolate Cake Shake. OMG. Bad news is I live in SoFlo and they are only in Chicago. Good news is I don't weigh 500 lbs., which I am sure I would if I lived in Chicago.

Sorry Heston!

I don't think I've ever mentioned Charlton Heston before in a message but today in the first week of our Hooked series I mentioned his role as Moses in the classic movie The Ten Commandments.

I just signed on the computer and discovered that Heston passed away today at the age of 84.

To be on the safe side, if you don't want me to mention your name next week you can send me $100,000 in cash. Ok, I guess I'll take a check. Make it payable to Matt Mehaffey.

Back in the Saddle

Last Sunday, was the first Sunday I didn't preach at The Pursuit. Alex Diaz, our Arts Director filled in and did a great job. You can hear his message online HERE or if you are an avid iTunes user you can subscribe to our podcast (just search for "The Pursuit Christian Church)."

After a week off, I am super excited to preach about Jesus this Easter. Actually we preach about Jesus every week not just on Easter but this message is going to be a lot of fun to teach.

What are You Searching for?

Invitations to the community are hitting mailboxes today to welcome anyone and everyone to The Pursuit Christian Church's first Celebration Service on Sunday, January 27. Yes, 10 days away.

The service starts at 10:30 a.m. and we meet at the Floridian Ballroom at the cross section of Pines Blvd. and 178. Don't worry you'll see our road signs.

Got kids? We have a great area called "Kids City" your children will love. Kids City is for babies through 4th grade.

I am not saying, I'm just saying

Last Sunday, December 16, I threw on my brand new Miami Dolphins jersey as I preached at The Pursuit's first preview service. It's a throwback Marino jersey. At that moment the 'Fins were 0-13 and staring at the fate of being the first NFL team in history to go 0-16.

Later that day, they won their first game of the season against the Ravens. They also just hired Bill Parcells to a 4-year deal to be their VP of Football Operations.

Mr. Huizenga, when you write your check out to me, "Mehaffey" is spelled with two "F's." You are welcome.
